Hawaii's Master Tattoo Artist: Tattoo Adam of Waikiki, also known as Horiyume

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Waikiki, Honolulu, Tattoo Adam, also revered as Horiyume, stands as a beacon of artistic mastery in the world of tattooing. Honored with the title "Horiyume" by the legendary Sensei Horioshi3, Tattoo Adam is a custodian of the traditional Japanese art of Irezumi, a style deeply rooted in Japanese culture and history.

Adam Siehr Khampong, the man behind Horiyume, boasts over 30 years of experience in the tattoo industry. His journey began far from the tropical shores of Hawaii, in the bustling city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Initially a graffiti artist, Adam transitioned to tattooing in 1994, apprenticing under John Cervantez at Accents In Ink. Here, he honed his skills and learned the fundamental aspects of tattoo work, setting the stage for a remarkable career.

In 1997, Adam moved to the glitzy city of Las Vegas, where he worked at Diversity, a tattoo shop on the Las Vegas Strip. This period was marked by exposure to a variety of artistic influences and the experience of working in a busy, tourist-oriented environment. During his time in Las Vegas, Adam tattooed numerous celebrity clients, including the legendary boxer Mike Tyson.

Seeking a change of pace, Tattoo Adam relocated to Honolulu in 1999. Here, he focused on building his custom portfolio, contributing significantly to the local tattoo scene. He was one of the pioneering artists at Tattoolicious on McCully Blvd., where he concentrated on creating unique, custom tattoos. As Tattoolicious evolved to integrate body art and hair styling, Adam transitioned to Aloha Tattoo on Ala Moana Blvd. in 2002, continuing to refine his craft.

In May 2004, Tattoo Adam took a significant step forward by opening his private studio, 434 Custom Tattoo. This studio represents the culmination of Adam's artistic journey, a place where he takes pride in delivering high-quality, custom tattoo work. The studio is adorned with unique, sentimental pieces collected from his travels around the world, creating an environment that is both inspiring and reflective of his journey.

Tattoo Adam's expertise lies in the traditional Japanese art of Irezumi. This intricate style is characterized by its bold designs, rich symbolism, and historical significance. As a master of this art form, Adam seamlessly integrates his clients' visions with his artistic expertise, creating tattoos that are not only visually stunning but also deeply meaningful.

With over three decades of experience, Tattoo Adam has established himself as a leading figure in the tattoo industry. His ability to create one-of-a-kind, original designs has earned him a reputation for excellence. Whether it's a traditional Japanese piece or a custom design tailored to a client's specific vision, Adam's work stands as a testament to his skill and dedication.
